WHY IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM HAVING MY DRIVEWAY PLOWED?
We use tractor and small loader mounted snowblowers to quickly and thoroughly clear the snow from your driveway. We don’t need to push piles back onto your lawn (risking unsightly turf damage), we will leave no piles at the end of your driveway that block your view of traffic (making backing out of the driveway perilous), and your driveway will always be cleared to full width whereas plowing results in a narrowing of the driveway every storm. The snowblowers also have the distinct advantage of handling all amounts of snow from 2”-12” at about the same pace—meaning our rate of service remains mostly unchanged with the severity of the snowstorm. The priority at which we can service your driveway takes all the tedium and worry out of the task for you as a homeowner. No more wondering where the plow guy is during those multi-day Nor’easters
DO YOU HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE DOING THIS TYPE OF SERVICE?
We have been snowblowing condominium driveways with a tractor for 10 years. Getting into residential properties was only a natural progression. While we have been plowing residential driveways the conventional way with trucks for decades, after having gained the experience and knowledge in doing driveways with snowblowers, we know it's a better way to go for both you the customer and for us from a business perspective.
HOW OFTEN WILL MY DRIVEWAY BE CLEARED?
We begin our route at 2″ of snow, and we shoot for a 5 hour complete cycle time. This means that during the day your driveway will be cleared every 5-6 hours or after 2″ of snow accumulation. We will work with the storm to make sure your driveway is accessible when you need it most. After every storm we will reverse the route so that the “last will come first.” There is no favoritism in our routing, simple geography is the deciding factor in how we service your driveways. Increasing the number of driveways in your neighborhood is the best way to insure the fastest service.
WHAT IF THERE ARE VEHICLES PARKED IN THE WAY OR THE CITY RE-PLOWS THE STREET AND BLOCKS IN OUR DRIVEWAY?
The program anticipates multiple visits by the city plows—it’s all included! When the tractors come to your house they will service as much of the driveway as they can safely access. When the route is complete we revisit to make sure we get everything left by the city plows. If the cars remain unmoved we will skip your driveway. Should you require additional service when you move the car after that and you call us, we will charge a $35.00 fee to make this service call and we will perform this work on our schedule.
WILL MY DRIVEWAY BE CLEARED BY 7AM?
If the snow has stopped falling by 2 AM the driveways will be clear by 7 AM (at least a first pass clear). As soon as we complete the route we will head back through again and clear out any plow furrows that got shoved back in after our first pass. In the case of a continuous snow, we would pass back through the entire route insuring easy passage back into your drive after work. The snow doesn’t always fit the complete by 7 AM schedule—if it stops snowing at 6 AM we won’t have the driveways cleared by 7AM—neither will the town have cleared all the neighborhood streets.
WHAT IF THE SNOW DRIFTS?
We will clear major drifting of snow at no additional cost up to 24 hours after a storm—we will group all drifting calls into one run for a tractor and take care of them all at once. We will inform you via email or Facebook for scheduling.
DO YOU OFFER SHOVELING?
Yes. Shoveling of the garage door fronts and front walks, or all walks can be done. Garage door fronts and the front walk cleared average $150 additional for the year. City walks are $180/year, or $240/year for those unfortunate enough to live on a corner with a city walk on two sides. Fill in the quote request form and we will give you a firm price for what you want done.
CAN I HAVE JUST MY CITY WALK DONE?
Yes! Even if that's all you want done, we can do that. City walks are always plowed in by the Town plows and are always the hardest to clear. Think back to the blizzard! Even if you do your driveway yourself, why would you want to clear the city walk knowing that you could have paid so little to have someone else do it! Our goal is to sign up every city walk on every street in our area so that we can drive our sidewalk machine continouosly blowing snow without stopping. We need your help in signing up your neighbors. If we get everyone on the street to sign up to have their city walk cleared, we will reduce the charge from $180 to $150 each for the season!
WILL YOU APPLY DEICER TO THE DRIVEWAYS AND WALKWAYS?
Yes, as an extra charge service, we use a de-icer called Magic Salt or straight rock salt on driveways depending on temperatures, and a blend mix for concrete walks. We need to know if you are interested in this service when you sign up for the base snowblowing. This is billed extra per application.
I HAVE A GRAVEL DRIVEWAY, CAN YOU STILL SERVICE IT?
WILL THE TRACTOR OR SNOWBLOWER CAUSE ANY DAMAGE?
Our tractors weigh no more than a truck that would plow your driveway and will cause no damage. The snowblowers also cause no damage. You may see minor scrape marks on the asphalt which has absolutely no effect on the integrity of the driveway. Snowblowers cause less scrape marks than conventional truck plows, mainly because they need to make less passes to clear the snow.
WHAT IS A SEASONAL CONTRACT? WHY IS THIS THE ONLY WAY WE CAN USE SNOWBLOWING?
The central idea of this snow business is to establish a “fixed” price service to a residential clientele. This allows you to keep your household budget/expenditures level from year to year. In order to provide this fixed price we need to fix our costs. We do that by investing in technology (tractors and snowblowers used exclusively for this service) and paying our tractor drivers a salary. Snow or no snow our costs fluctuate by only a few percent. If we were to offer per visit billing in no snow winters we could not afford our equipment or our crew, and in high snow winters our clients could not afford the rates we would have to charge to cover our equipment expenses incurred in the light snow season. By owning technology that can handle snow in almost any quantity with very little variance in the time it takes to complete the task and paying our operators a salary, we can provide your budget stability in seasons from zero snow to snowmageddon—Remember 2010-2011? Or the blizzard in 2013 when companies were charging $400 to clear a single driveway? If you want to help control future costs, sign up more neighbors.
WHAT DISCOUNTS CAN I GET?
Sign up an adjacent neighbor and get 5% off your seasonal bill. Sign up 5 neighbors on your street and get another 5% off. Sign up 8 customers in our route area and get 5% off for a maximum of 20% off. Get your entire street to sign up for city walk clearing and go from $180 to $150 a year each.
ARE YOU INSURED?
We are covered with a $2M general liability, workman’s compensation, and automobile coverage (tractors are treated as vehicles). This is to make sure that you the client are protected.
HOW DO I KNOW YOU WILL SHOW UP AND WON'T JUST TAKE MY MONEY AND RUN?
Excellent question. Just read the newspaper and you will see an article talking about unscrupulous contractors stealing money. You will receive a written contract that details exactly what we do, how we do it and how to pay for it. No surprises. Check us out with the BBB (we are a member), we have an A+ rating. Check with the CT State Dept of Consumer Protection. Ask your neighbors, many of which we already service and have been for years. Owner Jim Syme and his son Eric were both born and raised in Rocky Hill. Call the Police Department and ask about any complaints; there are none. Jim was a Police Officer in Rocky Hill for 25 years, and still maintains that honesty and integrity in all his business dealings. We are in this for the long run!
WHAT METHODS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
We accept cash and check only.
